Pewter Garden Gnomes 1/12th scale
Add a touch of kitsch to your garden or florist's shop! Perfect for a mid century nostalgic scene.
Made of pewter they can be painted in traditional colours, see the 3rd picture.
To paint the gnomes first of all give them a wash in soapy water and allow to dry thoroughly. If you are not going to handle them much then Acrylic paints are fine, but apply a primer coat first.
If you want a hard wearing finish then I suggest enamel paint, Humbrol make tiny tins for the modeller which are perfect. you will need thinners to clean your brush.
To make the painting process much easier then attach the gnomes with blue tack or tacky wax to a flat topped jar or lid, anything that means you can hold it easily whilst painting and letting it dry. See the pictures for detail.
